| LTS Launches New Web Portal The Library Technical Services (LTS) website has a new look and feel, thanks to an initiative begun by Karen Calhoun to create a web presence that better reflects the new organizational structure of LTS. Nate Rupp and Jim Alberts co-chaired the committee that created the new site and made it a pilot program in CommonSpot, the web design/information management software used in the Cornell Libraries and many Cornell colleges. Other committee members were Michal Jacyna, technical liaison, Nancy Solla, Sally Lockwood, Jim Spear, Margaret Nichols, Lois Peret Purcell and Deb Warfield. The new site incorporates much of the content of the TSWeb site and brings together all LTS procedures and documentation in one place. Updates to the new site can be made quickly without using an HTML editor, and the site structure has sufficient flexibility so that it can evolve and expand to reflect the dynamic nature of LTS and meet the needs of LTS staff. Tips on using the new site: 1. Some contents may have shifted; since the site structure is not the same as that of TSWeb, not every document and resource will be in what used to be the "right" place. If you can't find something, please try using the search box. The search engine is updated frequently and runs on a Google platform, so it provides excellent and timely access to site content. 2. If after trying the search box, you still can't find the information you need, please let us know via the comment box (and please don't hesitate to give your name if you have a specific question; we will get back to you). 3. Although the content migration to the new site is largely complete, not all pages are finished. Again, if you find something missing, please use the search engine and then contact us if you can't find what you're looking for. Please browse the new site; do some light reading in the Procedures and Documentation, take in some meeting minutes and explore our committee structure in Who We Are, or check out the numerous Resources & Tools made available through the site. And again, if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. |
