| TSWeb Technical Team Minutes, Feb. 22, 2006 Michal Jacyna, Sally Lockwood, Nate Rupp, Nancy Solla Resources and Tools Section of the Web Site 1. We took a look at the pieces of the old web sites (TS Web and CTS Web) that we originally thought might fit into the Resources and Tools section of the new web site. We came up with the following categories of resources. (The names I’ve given the categories are, for the most part, just suggestions. Let me know what you think.) a. Vendor databases – ITSO, Gobi, Serials Solutions, Haraasowitz b. Keyboard shortcuts - Macro Express, Acquisitions keyboard equivalents c. Library organizations – RLIN, OCLC, BIBCO, NACO, SACO, PCC d. Reference shelf – Dictionaries, Currency Converter, LTS language skills, language cheat sheet, Joanie Brink’s book, selector name list e. Tools – PURL creator, MARC to XML converter, CLAMMS, Harvest f. Charts and Tables – 948 Chart, 899 chart 2. We set aside these resources for other sections of the web site: a. Procedures by Number (Procedures) b. Acq Web (Acquisitions) c. Music Cataloger (the only items under this could probably be linked from charts and tables in the resources and tools section to the procedures section or they could just live in the procedures section) d. Government Documents (most of these items will live under a government documents divisional section) e. MARC record sets (Services) f. Metadata (Metadata Services) g. ERM (Who We Are: a committee) 3. Questions to ask: a. What is the procedures group doing about all the charts and tables? Are they including them in the procedures or pulling them out? 4. Next meeting – Wednesday, March 1, 2006 a. Michal and Nancy will discuss what they learned at the user centered design workshop this week b. Finish going through the rest of the old web site(s) to find other resources and tools c. Michal will show us what he’s done for the DMS section of the web site (that’s what we agreed to, right?) |
