Discussion of continuing slow death of Voyager Manual table of contents page

As a result of the conversation that Jim Alberts had with Jim Leblanc last week, we agreed that we would rename the LTS procedures page from Library Technical Services Procedures to Library Technical Services Procedures and Documentation. (done!)

Lois will add links to the new Library Technical Services Procedures and Documentation page for the call number examples document, oversize chart, and LTS language skills chart. (done!)

Lois will delete the link to the Voyager Manual TOC in the QuickLinks dropdown menu of the TSWebsite. (done!) And we will aim to delete that page altogether by the middle of next week. At that time, Jim Alberts will make an announcement on TSVoyage-L and LTS-L to that effect. Meanwhile, Lois will be checking with Michal to figure out how to create a redirect to the Library Technical Services Procedures and Documentation page when staff attempt to access the "homepage" of the Voyager Manual.

Lois has made good progress in correcting the links that are at the tops of many of the documents that "live" in the Voyager Manual. She is updating them to link back to the Library Technical Services Procedures and Documentation page. She will continue to clean up references to the Voyager Manual in the many places they appear on the old CTS site as well.

Jim Alberts is thinking about how the front matter will look for the documents that reside in the Voyager Manual. The work will begin on that activity in the upcoming weeks.

Lois reported that Ardeen White, LTS training coordinator, has agreed to be responsible for reviewing the basic Voyager documents whenever we do a Voyager upgrade. Either Ardeen will do them herself or she will be involved in coordinating the review and updating. There are other Voyager manual documents that do not fit that basic category and will be orphans. The consensus is that members of the web maintenance team will be able to either handle those themselves or know how they should be distributed for review.

Future meetings

Jim Alberts will be away next week so we will not meet on Feb. 24.

Lois will be away on March 3 and 10. Jim Alberts will be in touch about whether the group will meet on those two Fridays.
