| TSWeb Technical Team Minutes, Dec. 2, 2005 Attending: Michal Jacyna, Sally Lockwood, Nathan Rupp, Nancy Solla 1. Nate provided an update of the meeting that he and Jim Alberts had with the Library Technical Services Senior Management Team (LTS SMT). a. David suggested that we use data from the current site to determine which subcategories should be highlighted on the front page of the new site, but we don’t have any way of tracking this information on the current site. b. There should be a basic Ask Us/FAQ section of the web site; perhaps this could live under "About Us." At the very least, there should be a quick way for people to email LTS with questions. Who would these emails be sent to? Where should the link to the email live? Should it replace the current "contact us" link in the footer? If not, how can distinguish one link from another? c. There’s currently a link in the footer for an "LTS Intranet." As the site moves along, we will think about the kinds of things (Voyager screen shots, etc.) that could be included in an Intranet, and determine if there is enough content to warrant the development of an Intranet. d. It was suggested that we include "Backstory" as a link on the front page; this would probably fit best under "About Us." e. To show users that there may be more than three subcategories under one main category, Marty suggested that we use "More…" as another subcategory under each main category. Everyone thought this was a good solution. f. David reminded us to include an archive for older LTS information. Jim and I discussed whether we should include a separate archive for outdated procedures and decided that would make sense. g. SMT agreed that the Voyager Manual does not need to be retained as a separate document and can be combined with technical services procedures. 2. Nate and Michal provided an update of their meeting with Jim Reidy. Jim asked us for second- and third-level page designs and an overall structure of the website. Nate has put together a overall site structure and has begun discussing it with Jim. Michal will continue to develop designs for second- and third-level prototype to be unveiled in mid-January. |
