TSWeb Procedures Team Minutes, Oct. 28, 2005

1. Combining of Voyager Procedures into LTS Procedures

The group discussed issues relating to this topic. Jim Alberts has already added some Voyager links to the relevant sections of the functional list of LTS procedures. For now, the group agreed that the set of procedures identified as the "Voyager Manual" would remain as a separate entity, with specific links from this manual to be placed into appropriate sections of the LTS procedures, similarly to what Jim has already done. The final disposition of the Voyager Manual is still under discussion.

The group also agreed to a suggestion by Jim A. to create a new section in the LTS Procedures called "Configuring Voyager" that will essentially consist of an alphabetized version of the same links that currently are associated with the corresponding section in the Voyager Manual entitled "Configuring."

Jim A. asked the group how it felt about adding, explicitly in the LTS Procedures functional listing, links for various tables that up to this point have appeared as links in the Voyager Manual and as links within the corresponding LTS procedure. The group agreed that creating this additional set of links would not be appropriate.

As an aside, Lois mentioned that several staff members had mentioned the inoperability of the search engine on TSWeb. We are still trying to repair the search engine. In the meantime, we recommend suggesting that staff access the "Technical Services A-Z" link, which takes you to an alphabetical listing of keywords and topics.

2. Examining TS Web Pages from other University Libraries

We had a brief discussion about the pages we each visited. We decided to collect the copies of web pages that we had made and to have each of us spend an hour or so to look at all of this information and then forward it on to the next person. Jim requested that we each write up a brief summary of our impressions of these other web pages in the context of how we may or may not wish to emulate them. We will then continue this discussion at out next meeting.

3. Archiving Obsolete Procedures

We had a brief discussion about the necessity of insuring that older, obsolete procedures were placed in an accessible archive. We need to continue working to determine how much of this material counts as "procedures" and work with the Technical Group to ensure that it is archived correctly.

4. Next Meeting Dates

We tentatively agreed that we would meet on Friday, Nov. 4 and Friday, Nov. 18 at 10:00 am.

Depending on the outcome of the Nov. 4 meeting, we may decide not to meet on Nov. 11.
