LTSWeb Procedures Team Minutes, Oct. 14, 2005
Present: Jim Alberts (chair), Margaret Nichols (recorder), Lois Purcell, Jim Spear, Deb Warfield
Update on RMC procedures Lois and Margaret briefed the group on RMC procedures which are being folded into the LTS Procedures. So far, about six new procedures have been added, and RMC exceptions have been incorporated into LTS Procedures # 1, 11, 16, 32, 42, 54, and 60. We discussed what to do about Procedure # 74, which said only that RMC materials are cataloged in RMC. Lois suggested that she could add phrasing to refer people to the other RMC procedures that are on the LTS site (as she did, later that week). Jim A. noted that he had been urged to have the group post announcements to CU-LIB when new procedures are added. Margaret agreed to draft an announcement concerning the RMC procedures and send the draft to the group for editing.
Voyager procedures Jim A. suggested that we start folding Voyager procedures into the LTS Procedures soon. We returned to the question of whether to number the Voyager procedures separately or keep them in a different place. Or should we get rid of the procedure numbers altogether? We agreed that the numbered list is useful in keeping track of which procedures have been created or updated lately. Again, we settled on using "v" after the procedure number for Voyager procedures for now. Jim A. noted that there are about 32 procedures in the Voyager Manual. Jim S. agreed to start the process of incorporating them by identifying them in the Voyager Manual and thinking about where they should go. Lois raised the question of whether to reconsider who is the "keeper" responsible for maintaining the Voyager procedures. Right now, Jim LeBlanc and Lois are the only "keepers" for them. We decided to leave that situation as is for now, assuming that most Voyager information will not change very much in the immediate future, aside from Unicode implementation.
Surveying other TS procedures sites Jim A. suggested we should look at the technical services procedures Web sites of other libraries to see how they have handled them. We decided to focus on IviesPlus libraries. We worked out this division of Web sites to be looked at over the next week:
Jim A.--Dartmouth, Yale, Brown Lois--Penn, Princeton, Harvard Deb--Columbia, UC Berkeley Jim S.--MIT, Duke, UCLA Meanwhile, Margaret will focus on finishing the transfer of the RMC procedures to the LTS site.
