| TSWeb Technical Team Minutes, Sept. 23, 2005 Attending: Michal Jacyna, Nathan Rupp (chair), Nancy Solla 1. We finished going through our list of audiences to determine which of our seven topics (procedures, tools, projects, contacts, training opportunities, structural/committee/organization, and initiatives) would be most appropriate for a "functional" front page. It seemed that they were all viable candidates for a front page, although some (initiatives and projects) might need to be combined 2. We discussed whether the relative merits of a "functional" front page vs. a "organizational" or "hierarchical" front page. (The current TS Web page is "organizational" or "hierarchical.") Because our web site is intended to appeal to a diverse audience, including individuals outside of Library Technical Services who may not know about LTS’ organization, we may need to design the front page of the web site to be "functional." However, since one the largest audiences of the LTS site is those who work in LTS, designing the front page "organizationally" may work too. We may need to design the front page so it can provide access to information about LTS and its activities using both these schemes. We decided that before we can discuss each of these options further, we need to be able to visualize what they look like; to this end, for our next meeting on Tuesday, October 4, from 10-11:30, Michal will draw up what an organizationally oriented page could look like and Nate will draw up what a functionally oriented page could look like. They will include basic designs for a web site front page and second level page. |
