2005/06 CUL Technical Services Web Site Maintenance Team

The Cornell Technical Services Web Site Maintenance Team is charged to:
- Merge the content of the Central Technical Services (CTS) Web site with TSWeb content, eliminating the CTS Web site
- Make other changes as needed to the TSWeb to align its content with the new CUL-wide Library Technical Services organization
- As the CU-wide CommonSpot implementation proceeds, implement CommonSpot for managing TSWeb content
- Complete an analysis of technical services policy and procedural documentation from CTS, Music, RMC, and Mann Library technical services and prepare (a) recommendations for a coherent set of Library Technical Services (LTS) policies, procedures and best practices that will result in consistent LTS products and approaches and (b) an implementation plan for creating or making the necessary updates to the documentation
- Consider and respond to comments, questions, and suggestions about the site
- Maintain existing site content, including: individual pages and links, the site map, and Technical Services A-Z
- Maintain the What's New component of the site, including the discovery and selection of What's New items, consulting with TSEG as appropriate
- Add new content to the site, consulting with TSEG as appropriate
- Archive older and obsolete pages, consulting with TSEG as appropriate.
- Train newer members of the Team in the administrative and technological upkeep of the site prior to the annual rotation of more experienced members off the Team
Starting Date: July 1, 2005
- For fiscal year 2005/06, the responsibilities of the team will increase substantially due to the need to reflect the changes to an integrated CUL Library Technical Services operation. For this special year, the team will consist of the merged 2004/05 TSWeb Maintenance and CTS Web teams, co-chaired by one individual to oversee tasks 1-3 plus the regular work of the team (tasks 5-10) and a second individual to guide the significant effort represented by task 4.
- In fiscal year 2006/07, the team will return to its complement of four members: a chair, a member chiefly responsible for design and technological issues, and two other representative members from CUL Technical Services. Team members will be appointed annually by TSEG.
- Membership will be determined on a rotating basis. Two members from the 2005/06 CUL Technical Services Implementation Team will serve one-year terms to provide continuity. Two new members will be appointed to the team to serve two-year terms. Starting in July 2006 and in years thereafter, the two experienced team members will rotate off, while two new members will rotate onto the team, serving two-year terms.
