TSWeb Team Minutes, Apr. 26, 2005
Michal Jacyna, Nathan Rupp
1. New search engine
Nate will review the ?search tips? page to ensure the information there is still appropriate for the new search engine.
Michal will continue to work with Paul Houle to implement a header/footer for the search engine page that is similar to the header/footer that appears on the fourth level pages of the TSWeb site, and configure the server to regularly crawl the site on a weekly/daily basis to index new pages.
Nate will write up an announcement about the new search engine for What?s New and run it by Karen for her review.
2. Planning for next year
The web site will undergo a major revision next year to integrate the CTS site and reflect the integration of all CUL technical services units. This revision will take advantage of CommonSpot, the content management system recently purchased by Cornell.
To ensure that next year?s revision is successful, members of the TS Web team will participate in the CommonSpot training being offered on campus?the Overview, Fundamentals, and Power User/Administrator Training. In addition, Michal recommended that the ?technical person? of next year?s TS Web team take advantage of the workshops and classes in Javascript, Dreamweaver, and HTML offered by CUL.
Michal will hand off any documentation he has concerning the web site, including his training document, to the ?technical person? of next year?s team.
For our next meeting (May 24, 9-10 in the CTS conference room), think of the names of technical services staff who should be considered for appointment to next year?s TS Web team. Nate will take those names to Karen who will make final appointments to the team.
