TSWeb Team Minutes, Feb. 22, 2005
In attendance: Michal Jacyna, Margaret Nichols, Nathan Rupp (Jim Alberts, absent)
1. Items for ?What?s New?
We haven?t had any items for ?What?s New? in a while, and this was a recent topic in a TSEG meeting. I followed up with Karen about what that group would like to include on ?What?s New.? The following is a list of ?What?s New? topics with names of those from the TS Web M-Team who are responsible for each:
- WGC OCLC Connexion TF ? Margaret / Jim will write something
- ALCTS Leadership in Acquisitions Award ? Nate will talk to Karen about writing something
- Hillel catalog ? Nate talked with Keith about writing something up
- New Serials Solutions records ? Nate will talk with Jim L., David, or Adam about writing something
- ERM ? Michal will talk to Scott about writing something
- Temporary changes in TS leadership ? Margaret will write something or talk to Karen about doing so
- RLIN21 migration ? Michal will talk to David about writing something
- LC E-CIP ? Margaret will talk to Karen about writing something about CUL?s participation in this
- University of Rochester talk at Metadata Working Group ? Nate will write this
We?ll write our copy this week and next and forward it to me by Friday, March 4. I will send it to Karen for review, and Michal and Jim should plan to post it on TS Web after they hear back from Karen?probably during the week of March 7. After we do that, I?ll send an email to CU-LIB with a link to the ?What?s New? page so they can learn about what?s going on in CUL Tech Services. [We had talked about ?staggering? the What?s New items so they don?t all come out at once, but what if we were just to include them all in a single TS ?spring update?? That could be the title of the blurb on the front page that would link to everything at once.]
2. Search engine
Paul Houle has indexed the TS Web files and directories using the Nutch search engine. See http://www.library.cornell.edu:9080/ . We?re all going to test the search engine over the next couple of weeks, sharing our thoughts and impressions via email. If we?re happy with the search, Michal and Paul will work to implement it on the TS Web site the week of March 7.
3. Migration of TSEG and WGC content from StaffWeb to TSWeb
WGC content has been moved to TSWeb and the link in StaffWeb has been changed to reflect this move. Michal and Jim are still working on posting past WGC minutes to TSWeb. TSEG minutes have been moved to TSWeb, but we need approval from TSEG to change the link in StaffWeb so that it connects to TSEG content in TSWeb. [Margaret, will you ask TSEG about this for us?]
Margaret will look into obtaining a charge for TSEG that can be posted at its section of TSWeb.
4. Announcements
- Nate will ask Karen if she has anything for a Tech Service Integration update.
