TSWeb Team Minutes, Nov. 16, 2004
TS Web Maintenance Team
Meeting Notes: November 16, 2004
Attending: Jim Alberts, Michal Jacyna, Margaret Nichols, Nate Rupp (Chair)
1. WGC and TSEG sub-sites: Michal has been working through the WGC minutes and
moving them over to TS Web. I talked with Zoe Stewart Marshall about creating a more
robust WGC subsite on TS Web and she was receptive to the idea, but we're not sure
what we might include on such a subsite. However, we will keep our eyes open for
charges for the Connexion and Barcoding subcommittees of WGC and include those.
Michal will work with the Staff Web administrator to begin moving TSEG files (minutes,
etc.) from Staff Web over to TS Web.
2. Nutch search engine: Paul is ready to begin working on this project; we just need to get
the URLs we want indexed to him. This is what I have now; once again, am I forgetting
anything?
TS Web: http://www.library.cornell.edu/tsweb/
Voyager manual: http://www.library.cornell.edu/voyager/
Music Tech Services: http://www.library.cornell.edu/music/techserv.html

CTS site: http://www.library.cornell.edu/cts/
RMC guide: http://rmc.library.cornell.edu/services/tech-manual.htm

TSEG on staff web: http://www.library.cornell.edu/staffweb/TSEG/
WGC on staff web: http://www.library.cornell.edu/staffweb/WGC/
[Michal: Could we move the Law Tech Services page from
http://www.library.cornell.edu/tsweblaw/index.html to
http://www.library.cornell.edu/tsweb/index.html (note the change in directory from
"tsweblaw" to "tsweb") or even http://www.library.cornell.edu/tsweb/law/index.html
(note the addition of the directory "law")? That way, when I have Paul index all of
/tsweb/ law would be included. It doesn't make much sense to have him index another
directory -- /tsweblaw/ -- if only one file (index.html) is in that directory.]
3. Site redesign: With newer technologies in web design, such as those presented by Ken
Williams of RMC; the CU logo redesign; and the reception of comments about how to
make the site better, we briefly discussed the redesign of TS Web. However, the current
site has only been up for about six months and since the new CU logo doesn't have to be
implemented right away, it might be best to leave a site redesign to the 2005/06 TS Web
Maintenance Team.
4. Future Meetings: Would now be a good time to discuss moving to one meeting a
month? If we wanted to do this, we could go with December 14 as our next meeting and
then not meet again until after the first of the year. (Our next currently scheduled meeting
is 11/30, but with the holiday next week, there probably won't be many developments
between now and then to discuss. After taking a look at my schedule, we can't just move
the meeting to Dec. 7; I won't be in town that day. The next Tuesday is Dec. 14, which
I've suggested, and the next Tuesday is Dec. 21--immediately before the winter holiday.)
What do you think?
