LTSWeb Team Minutes, Sept. 13, 2004

Attending: Jim Alberts, Michal Jacyna, Margaret Nichols, Nate Rupp (chair)

TS Integration Team updates

In addition to including these updates on the Integration Team?s section of TS Web, we?ll

create a brief ?What?s New? announcement for them and link to the full text of the

updates from ?What?s New.? Nate will create the announcements, taken directly from the

update itself. Karen was happy with the look and wording of the ?What?s New?

announcement derived from August?s update, so we?ll continue creating announcements

from the updates in subsequent months.

Presentations page

We reviewed Michal?s mockup for a TS Web Presentations page, in which presentations

and articles created by CUL TS staff will be highlighted. The mockup looked fine and

we?ll pursue this effort. Jim will write an introduction for the page and send it around to

the Team for their review.

We?ll add both internal and external presentations to this page, including internal

presentations like the one from the TS Implementation overview on September 2, 2004,

and external presentations like the ones listed on the Metadata presentations page.

Michal will talk to David Banush about partnering with the folks working on the

Technical Services newsletter, ?Backstory,? in the gathering of items for the presentation

page. (In the first issue of ?Backstory? there was a section called ?Professionally

Speaking? that listed presentations and articles recently created by staff.). In addition,

Nate will send out a message to TSVoyage-L asking for submissions for this page.

Search engine

Paul Houle will help us implement the Nutch search engine in the TS Web site starting in

mid-October.

A to Z index

Michal and Jim will begin revising the A to Z index pages, pulling the (current) five

pages together as one and revising some of the keywords. They?ll send any mockups of

the index to the rest of the Team for its review.

Announcing TSWeb changes

Any changes to TSWeb deemed important enough to announce to CUL will be made by

Nate on CU- LIB after he clears them with Karen Calhoun.

What?s New

Nate will ask if David has anything about RLIN21 for ?What?s New.? The team was

encouraged to keep their eyes and ears open for other ?What?s New? announcements?

confer with folks within their own TS units, etc. [David said in an email exchange that

he?s not ready to say anything about RLIN.]

Logistics

We briefly discussed limiting our meetings to once a month. We currently have a couple

of projects (i.e., the Presentations page) in the works and will revisit reducing the number

of meetings after these projects are completed.

Labeling PDFs and Other File Formats

Michal and Jim demonstrated how labels for PDF (and PowerPoint, Excel, and other)

files would look. The team agreed that this was a useful addition to the web site. Michal

and Jim will implement these labels throughout the site where needed.
