Electronic Resources Committee Minutes Attending: David Block, Phil Davis, Nan Hyland, Marty Kurth, Holly Mistlebauer, Scott Wicks 1. Title-level access to Business & Company Resource Center ERC decided not to provide title-level access to this resource because of its incomplete coverage of the journals it indexes. 2. EBSCO Host Service Inquiry An EBSCO rep informed CUL contacts of the availability of the EBSCO Host Service Inquiry Web form and described the form as a survey. ERC reviewed the form and found it to be a request for service, so the committee opted not to complete it. 3. Serials Solutions title-level data for HighWire Press titles Serials Solutions currently offers title-level data for 46 of the 107 HighWire titles to which CUL subscribes. Phil offered to contact Serials Solutions to see if they will provide title-level data for the remaining 61 titles. 4. WebSPIRS and Ovid Mann Library staff learned last week that WebSPIRS 5.0 will be the last WebSPIRS interface. Ovid Technologies, which owns SilverPlatter, is planning to migrate all SilverPlatter databases from WebSPIRS to Ovid. Ovid has not yet set a timetable for the transition. In anticipation of the move, CUL will need to decide whether to switch from WebSPIRS to Ovid or to seek other vendors for current WebSPIRS databases. To begin the discussion, Nan will carry the issue to IRPC for input regarding the Ovid interface. Nan will bring IRPC's concerns back to ERC to inform ERC's subsequent recommendations for further review of the WebSPIRS-to-Ovid switch. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 22, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in 702 Olin. Meeting notes by Martin Kurth | |
