It will include best practices in computer security, passwords, etc.; configuration and customizing tricks for your browser; and how to change settings, shortcuts, and other basic tricks in Office. Macro Express Basics - Using computer macros can save time, improve accuracy, and eliminate keystrokes (which can help alleviate wrist injuries). This class covers a basic understanding of Macro Express and the creation of simple macros, and includes hands-on experience. It is helpful to anyone using the Voyager acquisition, cataloging, or circulation modules, but the examples will be cataloging based. Taught by Sally Lockwood. Offered Mon. June 30, 11 am-12 pm in the Mann Stone Computing Center. Macro Express Intermediate - The class covers complex macro creation, and also includes hands-on experience. SkillSoft Overview - Learn how to use this online resource of 2,000 courses as part of a new LTS initiative supporting its use. Library applications include computer, training, communication public speaking, project team and conflict management, interpersonal communication, statistics, and writing skills. This is a flexible system which is highly adaptable for individualized needs. Taught by Nancy Leonard. 3 classes offered between May 8-9 at G25 Stimson. Note: Fri. 5/11 class cancelled due to low enrollment. Rolling Out the Big Red Carpet, III - The third and final installment of our Customer Service series. In this class, Jim Sheridan will be covering some of the practical issues surrounding customer service challenges. Teamwork strategies, stress management, and reflective listening skills will be taught. Confluence Basics - This hands-on workshop will cover creating pages for a wiki; adding attachments; managing the page hierarchy; adding comments to a page; formatting pages; and receiving notification of updates to a page or space. "Rolling Out the Big Red Carpet," II - A continuation of our LTS Customer Service training, this class is taught by Jim Sheridan. Jim, a senior trainer and consultant in CU Organizational Development Services, will continue teaching the next phase of this class for us, this time in a form of case studies. Jim has drafted the cases based on the examples that LTS staff provided him with and that could reflect actual events in a work day. These sessions should engage us in typical situations with our customers and highlight how to deliver superb service to them. Offered at four different times in October. Cataloging Overview - Explains the different levels of cataloging and "what is a full record?". Will include a short authority searching and record making demo. Taught by Pam Stansbury, Barb Taylor, and Ardeen White. Offered November 8, from 1:30-3pm in Olin Room 106. Holdings Records - An explanation of the 866-868 fields for multi-vols., accompanying material, and bound withs. Geared toward inputters, receivers, and beginning catalogers. Electronic Resources Overview - This class will present a general overview of electronic resources at Cornell, including tools that are used to access e-resources, including the OPAC and Find it! and Get it! services; e-resource back end systems such as ERM, WebBridge, and WebFeat; bibliographic record workflow; and ways in which staff can report problems with e-resources.
