Creating LTS Pages in CS

Use the Internet Explorer (IE) browser, navigate to the following URL: http://lts.library.cornell.edu/lts/ and add “login.cfm”. Click the link below the “User Login” bar.

As soon as you see the three graphic elements below the “Database Management” tab, you are ready to read, author, and edit pages in CS.

Before you begin creating a page, you need to navigate (in the READ mode) to the section where your page will be indexed.  For example, if you want to create a page in the subsite of Acquisitions & Cat., then click on the Acq. & Cat link on the top navigation.  Change to the “author” mode by left clicking the eye glass graphic.

Left click on the padlock graphic (right of the eye glass graphic), and chose “create new page”.

When this window appears, make sure you are in the subsite where you want your content indexed, then click next.

Select the LTS templates, particularly the “Subsite with navigation template”, by clicking on the “subsite with…” text, see example below:

When this window appears, follow these rules for filling out the top three fields (name, title, title bar caption):

  • Name: this is the URL name; limit to one word or abbr.
  • Title: this text will be displayed in the left navigation & breadcrumb; Capitalize first word, limit to 4 words, and do not add periods after the last word.
  • Title Bar Caption: this text will appear in the window browser title bar and title of current page displayed (in the content area), see example below:

The remaining fields do not need to be modified for now.

  • Click next.

Few more steps before the page appears in left navigation:

  • In the “Page Title” element, left click the pencil icon and select the “edit text” option, as in the example below:

Once you have edited the text, click finish.

  • Next, left click the yellow circle icon, and chose the “submit entire page for publication”. See example below:

Click “ok”, in the next window.  Now your page has been successfully created, indexed in the left navigation, and will be displayed in the breadcrumb.  See example below:

Change back to “read mode”, to ensure the page is indexed in the left-navigation.
