1.  Using the individual language reports, retrieve the Voyager BIB record.

2.  Examine the data in the problem field, as indicated in the report and edit the field as follows:

245 Field: Edit 2nd indicator ("Number of nonfiling characters"), if necessary, according to MARC guidelines. Note that any diacritical mark associated with an initial article should be included in the count of non-filing characters. However, any diacritical mark associated with the first filing character should not be included in the count of nonfiling characters.

246 and 247 Fields: Remove initial article, if present. Uppercase new initial letter.

700$t, 710$t, 711$t, and 773$t Fields: Remove initial article, if present. Uppercase new initial letter.

730 and 740 Fields: Remove initial article, if present. Uppercase new initial letter. Set 1st indicator to "0".

3.  After editing the record, add "$dNIC" to the 040 field, if this field does not already end in "$d NIC".

4.  Add a 948 local statistics field to the BIB record, using 1st indicator "2" and the value "m" for type of transaction.

5.
Save the record to the Voyager database.
