- Requirements for Staff
All staff who use COLTS should record their hours daily. In the COLTS interface, staff use the "in/out" feature to note when they arrive, when they leave for lunch, when they return from lunch, and when they leave for the day. Staff are also responsible for entering sick and vacation time promptly and accurately, as appropriate.
Time cards must be finished, hours filled in, and signed by the employee by 4:00 p.m. on the last day of the pay period. At their discretion, individual CLO supervisors may set earlier deadlines for the staff and students in their units.
- Requirements for Supervisors
All supervisors should set COLTS to require staff entry of in/out times. Supervisors are responsible for checking COLTS periodically to ensure that staff are using the system properly and that work time as well as paid leave are recorded properly.
On the last day of the pay period, supervisors must verify and sign off time cards by COB.
The University has a time collection policy, which LTS Olin follows. Supervisors and staff with questions about time collection issues may consult that policy online at http://www.ohr.cornell.edu/policies/nonacademic/1011b_wagesalary/6711.html. They should also inform their own supervisors and staff in Library Human Resources as necessary when dealing with conflicts or questions about time collection issues.
