Batchmatch Extract (Formerly MARCadia)This document summarizes the specifications and schedule for the regular extract of our in-process, class-on-receipt (COR), and CIP-level BIB records for export to OCLC. The Batchmatch service at OCLC searches the records against the OCLC database and returns upgraded catalog records for reloading into Voyager.

A. Extract Specifications

Bibliographic records are extracted from Voyager for export to OCLC based on the following sets of criteria:

  1. BIB is unsuppressed, and
  2. BIB Leader/06 (type of record) = a, and
  3. BIB Leader/07 (bibliographic level) = a, c, d, or m -- and
  4. BIB does not contain an 035 field with any of the following RLIN identifiers: NYCV or NYCW.
  5. BIB does not contain a 995 field with $a NoEx or $a NoExOCLC.

If this first set of criteria is satisfied, then the BIB is extracted if:

  1. BIB Leader/17 (encoding level) = 3 or 8, and
  2. BIB does not contain an 050 $a beginning with KF25, KF26, or KF27 -- each followed directly by a decimal point or a subfield marker, and
  3. BIB has at least one associated MFHD 005 date within target range.

Or if:

  1. BIB has at least one associated MFHD with:
    • An 852 $h containing the term "process" (non-case sensitive), and
    • An 852 $x containing one of the following terms: arab, eng, fal, jgsm, mth, mus, lfor, odoc, oels, oeso, ogrm, ohys, oicl, olat, orom, osap, osea, oslv, stor (all non-case sensitive), and
    • An 005 date within the target range.
  2. And the BIB has no associated MFHDs with an 852 $h containing text that does not include the terms "process" or "order" (non-case sensitive),

B. Pre-Processing of Extracted Records

Voyager location codes are mapped from the 852 $b fields of all associated MFHDs to BIB 950 $l fields.

C. Exporting the Records

Records are exported monthly as a CTSBULK job. The extracts are run on or about the second Wednesday of the month, targeting records that are 18 months and 3 months old. In late 2003, we added an additional supplemental extract to target 12-month old COR records only. In late 2004, a second supplemental extract to target 24-month old COR records was added.
