John M. Olin Library Federal Depository Library FDLP Internet Use Policy POLICY STATEMENT GUIDELINES1. Olin Library provides access to the products in the FDLP Electronic Collection, at computer workstations with Internet capability in the Reference area. 2. The workstations which provide access to the FDLP Electronic Collection are available to any library user free of fees or other restrictions, such as age or residency status. 3. Filtering software to restrict access to information is not employed on any of the computer workstations. 4. Security measures for use of computer workstations are consistent with FDLP guidelines and requirements. Patrons are not required to present identification. Log-in or sign-up sheets are not used, except in the Map Collection where patrons can sign up to schedule a time on a computer. This time may be limited to 2 hours per day per person if the machines are busy. Special passwords are not used. The e-mail capability of the Web browser is not blocked. 5. The Olin Library acceptable use policy limits the use six library workstations to "library related research". However, the first-floor Reference area has 28 networked workstations which do not have limits on their use. 6. Printing to a networked laser printer is available for a fee from Olin Library terminals. Laser printing is controlled by a card which anyone can purchase.
